About 2017 ITA Summer Circuit - Wake Forest University
Saturday 7:00 PM Update: Times are updated for all matches tomorrow. Play will begin at 8:00 am...practice courts available starting at 7:00am. We hope to get the women through 3 singles and then 2 doubles at the end of the day. The men will be on schedule for 2 singles and 2 doubles.
Saturday 4:20 PM Weather Update: Women's Second round main draw and women's first round consolation will be played tomorrow. Please check the draw later tonight for updated times for tomorrow. Men's Second round main draw and first round consolation are currently in progress indoors. All players should check draws later tonight for match times for tomorrow.
Thursday 5:40 PM Update: Draws are up with times for all Saturday matches. Courts will be available for warm-up starting at 7:00 am on Saturday. FOR FRIDAY, Practice courts outdoors will be available from 12:00-7:00 on a first-come, first-serve basis. Do not come before 12:00 as we have both a Pro Circuit event running and will have 65 campers here until 12:00. Indoor courts will also be available Friday from 12:00-7:00 to whatever extent club members are not using the courts for $20 per hour (cash or check). We will not be taking reservations for any practice courts indoors or out. The courts close at 7:00 pm on Friday.
Saturday, we will have directions available at the tournament desk to get to 8 additional courts that are 1 mile from the tournament site on the main part of campus where players should be able to get additional warm-up if needed.
Thursday 10:45 AM Update: We will be posting draws and times as soon as possible, but we are still waiting to finalize doubles teams and cannot establish times until we know exactly how many doubles matches need to be played first thing Saturday morning.
PLAY WILL BEGIN ON SATURDAY AT 8:00 AM WITH 2 ROUNDS OF DOUBLES. WITH 18 COURTS IN USE, ALL PLAYERS SHOULD EXPECT TO PLAY EARLY SATURDAY MORNING (9:00 at the latest) AND SHOULD MAKE APPROPRIATE TRAVEL PLANS.
WE WILL BE WORKING TO REACH OUT TO ALL PLAYERS IN THE DRAW TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE THE CORRECT DOUBLES PAIRINGS AND THEN TO PAIR UP PLAYERS WHO WANT TO PLAY DOUBLES BUT DON'T HAVE A PARTNER YET. PLEASE KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR EMAIL OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
THERE MAY BE SPACE FOR A PLAYER TO PLAY DOUBLES WITHOUT PLAYING SINGLES, BUT TO DO SO WOULD COST THE $60 ENTRY FEE FOR THE TOURNAMENT SO IT MAY NOT BE SOMETHING YOU WANT TO DO. THERE IS NO CONSOLATION IN DOUBLES.
About ITA Summer Circuit powered by UTR
The ITA Summer Circuit was created to provide college players the opportunity to compete in organized events virtually year-round. Although the primary purpose of the circuit is to provide incoming freshman and collegiate players the chance to compete in the summer months, for NCAA compliance purposes, the events are categorized as “open”; therefore, anyone (including high level juniors and adults) is eligible to compete in these events as long as he/she is a current ITA member. The ITA Summer Circuit is currently made up of 52 events over six consecutive weekends, beginning the last weekend in June and continuing through the last weekend in July.
ITA Summer Playing Membership (Registration Button at top-right of page)
All participants must have a current 2017 ITA Summer Playing Membership ($30) to participate in a Summer Circuit event. Participants can only purchase an ITA membership through the ITA webpage (itatennis.com).
AFTER PURCHASING AN ITA MEMBERSHIP, PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION EMAIL THAT PROVIDES THEM WITH THEIR 2017 ITA MEMBER ID# ALONG WITH TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION PIN #'S (ALSO REFERRED TO AS PASSWORDS WHEN SIGNING UP) IN ORDER TO REGISTER FOR A SUMMER CIRCUIT EVENT.
Entry Requirements: All Summer Circuit events are open to all players on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Entry Fees: $60, includes both singles and doubles.
Refund Policy: A full refund of $60 will be issued directly back to the credit card used to pay for the entry for players that withdraw from a Summer Circuit event up to 10 days prior to the start of the event. If a player withdraws within 10 days of the start of the event, he/she forfeits their entry fee.
Maximum Draw Size: (Men’s & Women’s Singles: 64, Men’s & Women’s Doubles: 32)
Each tournament director will have the ability to limit the number of registrants he/she will accept into the tournament by setting a maximum draw size capacity. Once a draw (men’s or women’s) is at capacity, the UTR events platform will no longer accept registrations.
Singles Waiting List: Potential registrants are encouraged to email the tournament director requesting to be placed on a waiting list. Alternates may be moved into the competitor field up until the time draws have been published. Once draws have been published, any withdrawals or no-shows should result in a walkover. No on-site alternates will be allowed.
Doubles Registration: Doubles sign up is not a part of the official registration process, and instead will be conducted by each individual tournament director. The exact procedures and open & close times for doubles sign up will be published by the tournament director. Players will be able to see fellow competitors on the UTR Events platform competitor list if they would like to reach out to potential partners. DOUBLES REGISTRATION WILL BE COORDINATED BY THE TOURNAMENT REFEREE BY EMAIL AND TEXT (BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE PLAYER'S EMAIL AND PHONE NUMBER, NOT A PARENT'S) FROM NOW UNTIL THE 23rd OF JUNE. You will be able to see a list of competitors and will hopefully coordinate with someone with whom you want to play doubles and will be asked to provide that name to the tournament referee at that time. For those players who don't find their own partner from within the participant list, the tournament director and tournament referee will do their best to pair you up if you wish to play (REFEREE Contact info: firstname.lastname@example.org; 336-706-6286).
Seeding: In an effort with UTR to promote level-based play and decrease the number of non-competitive matches in the circuit, 50% of the players in each draw will be seeded according to player UTRs while the remaining 50% are randomly placed within the draw.
Consolation: All events will provide first match loser consolation (FMLC) in all singles draws. All doubles draws are single elimination with no consolation matches.
Scoring: Singles matches will play 2 out of 3 sets with a 10-point match tie break in lieu of a 3rd set using no-ad scoring. Doubles will play an 8-game pro-set using no-ad scoring with a 7-point tie break held at 7-all. Men’s draws will use the Division I collegiate no-let rule.
Points Race: The ITA office will track points and post a “points race standings” each week on the ITA website. At the conclusion of the circuit, the top 5 men and the top 5 women will receive automatic entry into the ITA National Summer Championships as well as a $600 travel reimbursement to be used towards the expense of attending the ITA National Summer Championships at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas.
